Within that bundle was the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/employee-retention-credit-2020-vs-2021-comparison-chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employee Retention Credit (ERC)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a lucrative benefit aimed at supporting and rewarding small-to- midsize businesses that chose to keep their staff on payroll rather than pursuing layoffs <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as so many companies were forced to do under the rising economic pressures of the pandemic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal was to provide the resilient business owners and employers who trudged on despite the difficulties with immediate emergency disaster relief in the form of a refundable tax credit for every employee retained.
